Choreographer/s | Calder White
Name of piece | Nowing
Venue | Firehall Arts Centre
Nowing is a duet about the narrative of progress and the ongoing, embodied work that underlies historical change. Originating in Calder's physical research of catharsis and movement of social bodies, the piece finds two people moving through parallel experiences of struggle and perseverance, mirroring one another in different timelines. In an effort to reconcile a marred past with abject, present realities, the duet explores the cyclical nature of history-making, the foundations laid by our predecessors, and the boundaries of what we can change about the future individually and collectively.
